You've probably never seen a robot move like THIS before.
Go to www.pcbway.com for all your parallel axis tripteron component machining needs.
It's shiny, and it moves on it's own, but what is it even good for?
Thanks to Dan Rudman (www.youtube.com/@Rudmin) for allowing the use of his footage, and for sparking me on this adventure.
Dan's video: ua-cam.com/video/6EtXycVGJg4/v-deo.html
Get the CAD and code for free over on my Patreon (I'll warn you now, it's janky as heck):

I made a precision gearbox - with NO GEARS.
Переглядів 1,4 млн2 місяці тому
If you want to build your own Cyloidal drive, let www.pcbway.com take care of the machining. This was one heck of a project, but I made it in the end. A (nearly) zero-backlash 4th axis for my home made milling machine. If you want to follow the projects a little closer, head over to www.patreon.com/NotAnEngineer. @InheritanceMachining had to build a bigger box of shame because of me, go watch t...
I just want to make things ROUND (accurately)

Go to www.pcbway.com for all your custom manufacturing needs; whether you need PCBs, 3D prints, laser cut sheet metal, or CNC machining services, they've got you covered. Patreon: www.patreon.com/NotAnEngineer It's about damn time I got to make some cylinders (accurately) in the home workshop.
I need a PRECISION straight-edge, so I made three

Have you seen the price of precision metrology equipment lately? Neither have I, I've been too busy rubbing these sticks together in an attempt to find flatness. Patreon: www.patreon.com/NotAnEngineer Here's Alex's channel: www.youtube.com/@anengineersfindings And some better reference material on the three plate method, if you're interested: Accidental Science: Flat From Scratch, revised - The...
I made a steady rest because I suck at planning
Переглядів 123 тис.7 місяців тому
A failure to plan, is a plan to fail, that is, unless you're like me and won't let anything stand between you and a bad idea. I designed a part that's too big for the machines I have access too; the sensible option would've been to scale back my hopes and dreams, but instead I cobbled together a brand-spankin' new steady rest. With a little help from the home-made milling machine. If you want t...
I "fixed" this cheap Chinese tool
Переглядів 287 тис.9 місяців тому
I was sick of manual tool changes on my DIY CNC Milling machine, so I bought this cheap BT30 spindle with automatic tool change capability from AliExpress on impulse. It wasn't long before I started to regret it. Watch me stumble my way through two (2) attempts at taper grinding, and finally settle for a barbaric final solution. If it wasn't clear from the video, you should NOT buy this spindle...
My DIY CNC mill eats metal

Last time you saw me build it. Now it's time to assemble and test my DIY CNC Milling machine. Was it worth it? You be the judge. Patreon: www.patreon.com/NotAnEngineer FAQ: Q. How much does it weigh? A. Around 500kg Q. What are the travels? A. X - 580mm, Y - 340mm, Z - 455mm Q. How much did it cost? A. Somewhere between $6000AUD and all of my sanity and money Q. How long did it take to build? I built a CNC mill because I have no self control

I've always wanted a CNC mill, so now I'm building one. This episode dives head first into the fabrication and machining of my heavy-duty DIY CNC milling machine, with a splash of paint at the end. Patreon: www.patreon.com/NotAnEngineer
underratet channel
Very cool project. You have an Australian accent yet said zee axis and off of. Have you been watching too many American shows?
I actually have
i like making useless crap that i won't use tiwce it compels me to watch diy channels
So cool. I wanna see that bad boy do some simultaneous 4th axis. Love the coolant setup.
Can you forward that email to me??
Yes mate, the bloopers are definitely worth chucking in.😂
8:45 hope you didn't go blind from all that rubbing.
The algorithm suggested your video to me yesterday. Today you've won a new sub - love the dry humor!
You may not be an engineer, your humour hurts just as much as engineer humour. Brilliant work.
I love the machinist's mircrophone !
Your workshop is WALL-E’s home. 😭🌌🧯🤖
Mate, this project and video is freaking awesome. Keep up the great work dude, my new favourite channel. Just curious, any idea how many hours you spent on this?
Stickbot 🍂
Holy fuck dont lift a lathe on the spindle 😭😭😭
I'm sorry, did you say something? Couldn't hear over the music.
“I still need to load the stock into the machine” *machine tending robots have entered the chat*
Hey! How can I make my spindle listen to me?
expertly machined crab
Add a camera, high power big bore air rifle and and way to remotely pu the trigger it could be a remote hunting station. Set up hunting stand and feeder then just hunt from comfort of your vehicle
Proper drainage !!!
The device reminds me of an Animusic robot. Interesting video.
I am "actually" an engineer and I must say I am really impressed by your skillset. I absolutely love the fact that people can learn anything these days if they want to. Lucky for me, I come from a place where degrees cost more or less nothing, just need to pass the exams or you get locked out forever.
Why are precision levels denied at customs?? Are you ordering from North Korea??
If nothing else this video is proof of knowledge for awarding a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. You are not too shabby at math or programming either…just saying 👍
When I did my apprentice it felt like months were spent with engineers blue and a granite slab Roll on scape off, rinse and repeat,. and repeat,. and repeat,. and repeat,. and repeat,. and repeat.
chatter is all about feeds and speeds
Too much text. Blood from my ears
But does it spread butter?
Whichever happens first: you start sing into an iron or to solder with a microphone, you'll be in a trouble )
i have
A lot of this video is boring.
16:08 *_sigh_* Yeah... yeah.
As far as software goes, the truth in the industry is simple : if it works, it works, and that makes it much better than any other fancy code that does not in a similar time frame.
Perhaps you could package the chips as Toe Graters, I'm not an Engineer either-so good luck?
By definition of the word engineer, you are an engineer... what you mean is you don't have university qualifications .... got news for you, the guy that invented the wheel didn't either man! I have no qualifications in computer science or software engineering... just that I've been coding since 1980! From Fortran and Z80 and Basic to Rust and Python and MoJo is my latest... Am I a coder? Or a wannabe coder?
Maybe annealing the welded assembly before starting the flatening process would have helped with the temperature differencial deformations you got? I mean, it would still deform with temperature but that deformation would theoretically be more uniform if there wasn't residual stresses within the part due to weld contractions.
surely you are not an engineer , thinking nobody seen a robot move like this...
Dang dude!!! You're living the other part of my brain
So damn good!
I have exactly the same badger!
That funny as intro earned you a sub. Never seen this channel glad it popped up in recommended.
It crab
See "the spider" bot for select chips or elements
Fookinhell see if Curtis from Cutting Edge Engineering has some space for you and move to whatever city he's in.
I’m a couple seconds in and I’m already positive you are one of the greatest UA-camrs
Heads I win, Tails you lose.
should have sprayed some lubricant on the cricket
As somebody who's also not an engineer (at least, not of the realm where ctrl + z doesn't work), there was a lot of this I didn't understand, but still found entertaining. Great stuff!
Bag of gravel with a degree
